1. Where do you deliver to?

We use a courier service which delivers to any mainland UK address (delivery to the North of Scotland and Northern Ireland is extra – please call for details).  Orders are delivered Monday to Friday between 09.00 and 17.30 to your preferred address, be that your home address or your work address.  You will receive a text (if you provided a mobile number) and email on the day of delivery giving you a one-hour time slot to expect the items.  Hire items will be collected from the same address at the end of your rental period.

2. Do you deliver direct to campsites?

Unfortunately, due to the number of issues we have received lately we no longer offer this service.

3. Can I collect my camping tent order from you?

We are happy if you want to collect and return your tent. Just give us a call to arrange or send us an email. We are based in East Sussex.

4. What happens if the hire tent gets damaged accidentally when I’m using it?

In very rare cases, extreme bad weather may cause unavoidable damage to the tent.    As part of your contract to us, you are agreeing to follow sensible guidelines and instructions in using the camping equipment, which will in most cases avoid damage occurring.  We would assess such an incident of damage on a case by case basis and cannot rule out charging you for replacement of the whole tent.  As a general rule, our policy tends to be more lenient.

5. What if I’m not in when the tent is delivered?

Your tent will be delivered to your chosen address in working hours (09.00 to 18:00) on your specified day (Monday to Friday only).  We do suggest that you state a safe place to leave the package, in case you have to pop out – that could be in the shed or porch or with a neighbour.  If the courier has no such instructions, they may post you a card with details of how you need to go and collect it from their depot local to you.  Remember you can have the package delivered to your workplace if that is easier for you.  The courier should give you 1 hour notice before the drop-off time via an SMS or phone call.

6. How do I prepare the tent for return?

Sweep the inside of the tent before you take down your tent. Please ensure your tent is clean and dry before packing away, if you have to repack the tent wet please ensure you unpack and dry before return (normally a night spread out in the living room will suffice). We understand that this isn’t always possible. If we need to do anything more than our normal cleaning service and have to dry and clean your tent when it is returned then a charge of £19.95 will be made.

7. How do I get the hire tent sent back to you?

Your hire tent will be collected from you on the last day of your agreed hire period, as stated in your order with Contented Camping.  You need to box it back up in the packaging you received it in and seal it back up with your own sticky tape.  The driver will arrive with labels addressed back to us, so you don’t need to worry about that.  The driver will arrive between 09.00 and 18.00 on your agreed day (usually it’s an afternoon pick-up once they’ve cleared a lot of their deliveries from the van) but will usually also give a 1 hour notice of collection time by either an SMS or phone call.

8. What if I want to keep the tent I’ve hired and buy it off you after my hire period?

You would need to call or email us to discuss.  Depending on how booked up we are immediately preceding your hire, we would offer you a competitive price, taking into consideration how many times your particular tent had been used by the given point in the camping season.

9. How much notice do you need for a hire booking?

If we have your hire items in stock, we can get a tent hire out to you within 24 hours if you book before noon and 48 hours, if after noon.  However, we do get very busy in the summer season, so we would recommend at least 2-3 weeks or even longer, to avoid disappointment.

10. What if I want to extend the hire period once I have the tent?

Please phone or email us to discuss.  We of course will help you do that whenever possible, but it might already be booked out straight after your booking and we need it back as originally agreed.

11. Can I pay extra to have the tent erected for me, on arrival at the campsite?

Please enquire directly. This is something we could offer depending on location and timing.  Remember the tents we hire out are selected for their ease of pitching and supplied with full pitching instructions and a mallet.  It’s not as difficult as you might think, and most other campers are friendly souls who will like nothing better than to help out a camping novice arriving on a campsite.  Don’t be shy – accept their offer of help if you need it!

12. Do you hire out camping equipment as well as tents?

We offer a wide range of equipment from sleeping, cooking and other essential bits and pieces. Our equipment is normally to be collected from our depot due to the size and weight. If you need delivery then please ask as are willing to travel locally. This will normally be approximately an hour from our base in Battle, East Sussex.

13. What if I’m disappointed with the tent I hired?

We research all our tents thoroughly before we hire for ease of use, size and durability. Most of our tents are rented out on a weekly basis and even though they are inspected on return there may be times where something minor has been missed. Again if this happens make use of your other campers in the area and please let us know.
